Amino Acids
Proteins are made up of a combination of basic units. These units are called AMINO ACIDS.
Many people find they are unable to maintain a sufficient supply of amino acids for their own body’s requirements. It could be that their diet is restricted, such as through vegetarianism or a stressful lifestyle. Possibly their needs are much higher than can be met by an average diet, as can be the case for serious athletes.
Singular amino acid supplements require no digestion and can be absorbed rapidly. This efficient process can enable an individual to target a specific amino acid deficiency associated with a health concern more accurately than a protein food source. To simply eat more protein foods, such as red meat, is not the solution as this could lead to an excess of some non-essential amino acids as well as extra fat and carbohydrates.
The amino acids that are found in protein are classified in two groups according to whether the body is capable of synthesizing them. If the body body is unable to synthesize them, the diet must provide these and they are known as ESSENTIAL amino acids. It is here that people with inadequate diets may be lacking. The human body produces some amino acids itself and these are call NON-ESSENTIAL. | |
